My First Lap
The True Story of Matthew Taufete’e
Once he believed his story was over. But God had a different story to write — a testimony of redemption, forgiveness, and second chances.
There was a time when Matthew Taufete’e believed his story was over. Raised in church but searching for acceptance, he found belonging in the streets instead of in his faith. Alcohol, gang life, violence, and one tragic decision led to the loss of a life — and ultimately to prison.
But God had a different story to write.
More than a memoir, My First Lap is a powerful testimony of redemption, forgiveness, and the life-changing grace of Jesus Christ. Through honest reflections on failure, family, prison, restoration, and purpose, Matt shares how God transformed a broken life into one dedicated to serving others.
“Matthew’s story is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond God’s redeeming grace.”
